Monstera deliciosa 'Swiss cheese plant'
This is no doubt the most popular plant of the century!
Commonly called the hurricane plant, the deep fenestrations formed by mature leaves are thought to aid the plant in surviving the high winds and monsoon rains in the jungles where it grows. Another theory is the plant cleverly helps itself by letting light and water through the holes for its lower leaves.
Other names of this beauty are Swiss cheese plant, or Mexican breadfruit -the "delisiosa" refers to the delicious fruits this plant produces when given enough light and a long growing season.
